Finally, some recognition for my favorite white wine ! Not just by choice, but because I was raised on and in Vouvray. My family's country home abutts the vineyards and when we were younger we used to pick the grapes for pocket money. Not long ago, we found in our cellars some 1947 Vouvray demi-sec ! Not that it was very good - it had in fact turned to some sort of syrupy mush. But the 1976 held pretty well.
It still amazes me that the Loire wines took such a long time to get known here. They may not be as "noble" as Bordeaux, Burgundies or Rhones, but why are the Montlouis, Bourgeuil or Chinon so ignored and so difficult to find?
Maybe one of these days, when you are less "busy", you could consider expanding on these. They may become your favorite subjects to talk about ?... Merci
